These terms apply when you play Crack the Dial on this site. By playing, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the game.

1. Who can play
You need to be 13 or over to use this site. If you are under 18, please check with a parent or guardian before buying anything.
2. The game is free
The daily code is free, needs no account, and always will. There is no paywall in front of today's puzzle. Everything beyond it, the 200 level saga, the Boss and the rest, is optional depth you reach by choice.
3. Your progress and your account
Today your progress is stored on your device only. Nothing is sent to us, and clearing your browser data or switching device will lose it unless you back it up first. Settings has a Back up button that saves a file, and a Restore button that reads one back.
Accounts are not available yet. When they are, signing in will be optional and today's puzzle will never sit behind one.
4. Coins, boosters and the Cracker Pass
Coins and boosters are virtual items. They are a licence to use a feature inside the game, not property and not money. Specifically:
- They have no value outside the game and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- They cannot be sold, traded or transferred to another player.
- They may expire if your progress is deleted, and they do not survive a move to a different device unless you back up and restore.
The Cracker Pass will be a subscription once paid features are switched on (section 5). While it is active it will remove ads, give unlimited lives and unlock the daily archive. Replaying a past day from the archive does not count toward your streak. Streak freezes are never sold either: every player earns them by playing.
5. Paying
Paid features are not switched on yet. Nothing in the game can be bought with money today: coins are earned by playing and spent inside the game. This section sets out what will apply once purchases are enabled.
Payments will be handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details. Prices shown include any tax where it applies.
The Cracker Pass renews every month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and cancelling stops the next payment rather than ending the month you have already paid for. Coin packs are one off purchases and do not renew.
6. Refunds and your right to cancel
Because these are digital items delivered immediately, you will be asked to agree that delivery starts right away. Doing so means you give up the 14 day right to cancel that UK consumer law would otherwise give you for that item. We will make that clear at the point of purchase rather than burying it here.
None of this removes your legal rights. If something you paid for is faulty, is not as described, or never arrives, you are entitled to a remedy and we will sort it out. Ask us.
7. Ads
The game may show ads, including video ads you choose to watch in exchange for a reward. An ad is always a choice, never a wall: anything an ad unlocks can also be bought, waited for, or skipped. The daily puzzle itself stays free of them.
Ads are served by a third party, whose own terms and privacy notice apply to them.
8. Fair play
Please do not:
- use bots, scripts or automation to play, or to pull puzzle answers out of the site;
- reverse engineer the game to extract or publish solutions. The puzzles are the product, and spoiling them spoils the day for everyone;
- attack, overload or try to break into the site;
- resell or redistribute the game or its content as your own.
We may block access if you do any of these.
9. Our content
The puzzles, artwork, wording and code are ours and are protected by copyright. You may share your result card, screenshots and links freely: that is the point of them. You may not copy the game or pass its content off as your own.
10. Changes and availability
This is a live game and we improve it. Features, prices and the balance of the economy can change, and the site may be unavailable at times. We do not promise it will run without interruption, and we may stop offering it. If we ever close the game down we will say so on this site first and give you a reasonable chance to back up your progress.
11. Our responsibility to you
We do not limit our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Subject to that, we are not responsible for losses we could not reasonably have expected when you started using the game, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose.
The game is entertainment. Please do not rely on it for anything that matters.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top always shows the current version, and if a change is significant we will flag it in the game rather than quietly swapping the page.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you keep the protection of your local consumer law.
